Exterior painting work on light-colored house siding

Based in Swampscott. Serving north of Boston.

Exterior Property Repairs

Exterior damage should be described and assessed before it is treated as a cosmetic problem. Send Impetus photos of the affected areas so we can discuss the repair request and how it relates to the rest of your property-care plans.

What to Include in Your Request

  • Exterior trim and woodwork repair requests
  • Assessment of visibly damaged components
  • Repair coordination before exterior painting
  • Exterior punch lists for homes and managed properties

Describe the damage and what changed

Loose trim, cracked components, and areas showing repeated water staining may need different responses. Include wider photos showing the location as well as close-ups taken safely from the ground. Note whether the issue appeared recently or has returned after previous work.

Do not hide a material problem with paint

A new coating is not a substitute for repairing a damaged component or addressing the cause of recurring deterioration. Discuss the repair separately from the final finish. Some conditions need further assessment or a specialist before the appropriate work can be determined.

Coordinate access and the finishing work

Building height, landscaping, nearby structures, and use of entrances affect access. If the repair is part of a repainting or maintenance project, explain the sequence you have in mind. The estimate should identify the materials and areas included rather than imply a full exterior renovation.

Discuss your exterior property repairs project

From Inquiry to Agreed Scope

  1. Share photos, the location of the damage, and any known history.
  2. Discuss access, the affected material, and the limits of the repair request.
  3. Confirm repairs and any separate painting or maintenance work before scheduling.

What Helps Us Prepare an Estimate

Include the number of affected areas, their approximate height, and whether you are also requesting painting. Avoid climbing or disturbing loose material to obtain photos.

Questions Before You Book

Can you assess whether repair or replacement is needed?

Describe the issue and provide photos to start the conversation. An on-site assessment may be needed, and some conditions require a specialist before a scope can be confirmed.

Should I wait until the painting estimate to mention damage?

Include it in the first request. Repair needs can affect preparation, materials, and the order of the painting work.
